5 Tips to Better Pack Your Suitcase

5 Tips to Better Pack Your Suitcase

Going on holiday is an exciting time, yet the stress of packing can quickly deflate your excitement. What shall I wear? How much underwear should I take? Packing can be a stressful experience.

Below, we have provided you with five tips to better pack your suitcase before coming on holiday to Malta.

1. Make a plan

Begin by writing down the days of the week that you will be away. Now, how often would you like to change every day? Do you have evening events? Will you be spending day’s by the pool or on the beach? Plan what you will need for the day and the evening. Be careful to consider the time of the year. Will you need thick woolly jumpers? Or t-shirts and shorts?

2. Size matters

Be careful to use a suitcase that’s the right size. If you are going away for a weekend getaway, but you only have a huge suitcase to hand, the more likely you’ll slip in extra items you don’t need.

3. Tetris

When placing your clothes in the suitcase, think of the best ways to maximise space. For example, footwear should be stuffed with socks to use the dead space. Then lay your shoes together heel to toe at the bottom of your suitcase in a plastic shopping bag to protect clothes from dirt.

Rolling your clothes also helps to maximise the space available rather than folding and piling clothes on-top of each other.

The bundle technique is also a popular way of packing where each article of clothing is wrapped around a central core, with underwear and T-shirts at the center, and large tailored items like blazers and dresses as the outer layer.

4. Keep liquids separate and within reach

These days, we’ve all become familiar with the little see-through plastic bag necessary to get through security. So make sure that all your liquids, if you are carrying luggage on with you, is somewhere within reach.

6. Don't unpack your toiletries

Keep toiletries packed in a toiletry bag throughout your holiday. Why? It helps not to lose anything and keep organised. It also makes packing to come home quicker and easier.

We hope you’ve found these tips helpful. We look forward to welcoming you for your holiday at The Phoenicia Malta.
