A Taste of Truffle Tradition
On 22 November, The Phoenicia Malta will welcome guests to Contessa for a one-of-a-kind culinary event full of family tradition and the one of the finest flavours of Umbria.
This exquisite dinner will feature hand-picked rare white truffles, foraged just days before by Food and Beverage Manager Matteo Biagini and Executive Chef Daniel Debattista. Led by Matteo’s father, who is an expert truffle hunter, they’ll set off on a truffle-hunting expedition in the lush forests of northern Umbria, along with The Phoenicia Malta’s Brand Ambassador Neville Juan Cardona and Hotel Manager Silvan Camilleri. Two truffle-hunting Lagotto Romagnolo dogs, Minni and Lilla, will assist the team in uncovering these prized culinary treasures.
This extraordinary dining experience, priced at just €195 per person, is a one-night-only event celebrating Italy’s truffle-rich heritage with a five-course menu designed around the unique flavour and aroma of white truffle. Indulge in sense-igniting dishes such as poached egg with white truffle and ‘Riseria Ferron’ Carnaroli risotto al tartufo bianco, paired with some of Italy’s finest wines from Charles Grech.
A Milestone Moment: Contessa Turns One
This December, The Phoenicia Malta’s flagship restaurant Contessa also celebrates its first anniversary!
Setting a new benchmark for high-end southern Mediterranean cuisine, Contessa emerged from the beloved Phoenix Restaurant in December 2023.
A year later, both local and international foodies have confirmed Contessa as their must-visit, year-round gastronomic destination, complete with tableside theatre, an elegant atmosphere and a tantalising menu full of signature dishes.
