Personality & Role Profile

You are an energetic and charismatic person ready to assist the Food & Beverage Manger in the Hotel Food and Beverage Operation in compliance with established hotel policies and achievement of all targets concerning revenues, costs, quality and standards. Contributes with actions and attitude to the construction of a good atmosphere within the hotel.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manage everyday operations and assist outlets during peak times
  • Supervise employee activities to conform to established standards and policies.
  • Delegate and assigns duties and responsibilities to subordinates
  • Identify and rectify operational, financial and employee challenges
  • Constant monitoring of staff cost, review schedules and plan staff vacations
  • Manage staff turnover and absence
  • Maximise employee’s productivity and satisfaction
  • Train and guide staff in their job duties
  • Assist in recruitment, performance review, and promotions
  • Ensure employees follow operational practices, hygiene rules and quality standards
  • Develop and implement training programs together with Training Manager for employees
  • Initiate the development methods for high quality food and drink preparation and presentation
  • Respond quickly to customer complaints to ensure high quality customer service and satisfaction
  • Monitor guest’s satisfaction (direct comments, reports and social media)
  • Assist in planning and supervising the marketing and promotion activities to attract more customers
  • Promote the brand in the local community through word-of-mouth and food & beverage events
  • Assist the Purchasing Manager in ordering, purchasing and stocking F&B products
  • Coordinate in sourcing and testing new products
  • Control of department crockery, cutlery, glassware, linen and equipment
  • Manages the administration and maintenance of the Micros Simphony POS system, ensures that all Menu items and prices are up-to-date
  • Participates in the development of the Hotel’s annual business plan by providing input on departmental issues
  • Issue reports on time as required
  • Ensures that the department image and tools are working at all times and conduct regular repairs and maintenance as required
Desirable Experience, Qualifications, & Attributes
  • Previous experience in a 5-star environment for at least 5 years in a similar or higher position
  • Ability to adapt to a flexible work schedule
  • Strong leadership, motivational and people skills
  • Excellent guest service skills
  • Excellent knowledge of food and drinks trends and techniques
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Confident, professional and welcoming personality
  • Very good knowledge of spoken and written English
  • Familiarity with restaurant management software, ideally ResDiary
  • Hands-on experience with Micros Simphony point of sale and Opera PMS Hotel Software
  • Holds a local Food Handling License in accordance with the Food Safety Commission of Malta
