Maltese lace, locally known as Bizzilla, is a style of bobbin lace making. This style of lace making is worked on a pillow called a Trajbu and is made by a tight bundle of long dry straw.  It is believed that the art of lace making was introduced in Malta after 1530, during the time of the Knights of Saint John. It was seen on ceremonial dresses and church vestments at the time. This craft still survives to this very day.

Anna will be present in the Palm Court Lounge from 10am – 5pm displaying the art of bobbin lace making.

Beading is another traditional Maltese craft. In the past, the lower class would create these works for the noble society. The elite would order various items to be used as jewellery or home decor.

Deborah will join Anna in the Palm Court Lounge where she will display the traditional art of beadwork.

Entrance is free of charge.
