New General Manager “coup” for iconic Phoenicia Malta
The Phoenicia Malta has appointed a new General Manager to take the historic hotel into the next exciting phase of development.
The Phoenicia Malta’s owner Mark Shaw has hailed the appointment of Brice Kemper, former Resident Manager of the luxury Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes on the French Riviera, as a “real coup” for the hotel.
Mr Shaw said: “Being a world class hotel means delivering a world class experience for all our guests. Brice Kemper is someone who knows exactly what this means, and how to make it happen. His reputation is widely recognised in the industry, and we are delighted that he has decided to bring his expertise to The Phoenicia at such an exciting time in the hotel’s development.”

Brice Kemper brings decades of experience in the hospitality sector having worked in numerous prestigious hotels across the globe, including the 5-star The Peninsula Hotel on New York’s Fifth Avenue and the Four Seasons Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat on the Côte d’Azur. Speaking in the stunning Palm Court Lounge of The Phoenicia, Mr Kemper said he was excited for the future: “This is a dream appointment for me; both an honour and an exciting opportunity to be a part of the team taking the famous The Phoenicia to the next level in luxury accommodation.
“Mark’s plans for future developments, including a gorgeous new spa, are ambitious and will cement The Phoenicia’s status as one of the world’s leading hotels.”
Mr Kemper takes over from Charles Azzopardi who has been at The Phoenicia for the past 25 years,the last 12 years as General Manager overseeing recent renovations and solidifying the hotel’s position as one of Malta’s premier 5-star experiences.
A €30m million investment in an 18 month long refurbishment has seen The Phoenicia Malta lovingly restored and elevated to the elegant and luxurious resort of years gone by, when it was a favourite destination of Queen Elizabeth and many celebrities. The stunning new spa is scheduled to open next year.
