Elegant, stately and inspired by the grand restaurants of Europe

This is the hotel’s principle fine-dining restaurant. Expect exceptional service, a refined atmosphere and an extraordinary á la carte menu, alongside impressive wine lists which include wines by the glass, Champagnes and Aperitifs. Our Executive Chef Daniel Debattista, who trained under Andrew Fairley at Gleneagles, takes full advantage of the daily catch and wonderful island produce. Other dishes combine traditional culinary techniques with newer, lighter cooking styles, always incorporating the freshest, local ingredients, from Gillardeau Oysters to stuffed rabbit. His velvety smooth Mango Souffle served with Coconut ice cream is legendary. Chic colonial décor combines wooden ceiling fans, ornamental chandeliers and beautiful flower arrangements. The superbly spacious terrace affords spectacular panoramic night-time views of the harbour.

Join us for an informal lunch, drinks, or supper. The food and the atmosphere have rightly earnt Café Phoenicia a place as one of Valletta’s favourite cafés. From Club Sandwiches and burgers to zingy modern salads and grilled calamari, it’s all about enjoying food that is fresh, seasonal, moderately priced and down-to-earth in a warm and relaxed setting.

The Bastion Pool

Cocktails, snacks and light bites, The Bastion is just what you want when you’re relaxing by our stunning infinity pool and really don’t want to move. And why would you? This oasis of calm, with magnificent views of the harbour and the city’s ancient bastion walls, offers everything from delicious salads and seafood to homemade gelato, fresh fruit juices, and cocktails and wines by the glass.

Open Daily 10.00 – 18.00 (kitchen hours 12.00 – 17.00).

Enjoy afternoon tea in the Palm Court, relax by the pool, or retreat to The Club Bar for an after dinner drink.

Whatever mood you are in, we have a space that is just right. Our bars and lounges have all been beautifully refurbished and have quickly restored their position as true favourites in Valletta.

The Palm Court sits at the very heart of the hotel and is the perfect place for a morning coffee and homemade pastry, but it is perhaps most well-known for its Afternoon Tea. A cup of Jasmine Silver Needle Tea or a Lemongrass & Ginger Fizz cocktail, the lightest of scones or a changing selection of cakes, enjoy indulgent food, pretty presentation and a beautifully refreshed setting. No wonder so many linger for a pre-dinner drink too.

Originally opened in 1952, the warm décor of this classic cocktail bar harps back to Malta’s colonial past but is bought bang up to date with a menu which showcases cool cocktails alongside all the classics: champagne, brandy, whisky, cognac. With its own terrace and uplifting views this is ideal place to unwind at the end of the day and soak up the surrounding charm of Valletta.
